Today I am so excited to share with you a super exciting post. I’m the kind of girl who doesn’t like to spend a ton of money on clothes but wants a ton of new clothes. So I have been doing the super trendy thing of going thrifting in search of new old clothes on a budget.
Don’t get me wrong, I love new clothes, but sometimes (I mean almost every time) my wallet is not big enough to support a shopping spree at one of the big box stores for new clothes. So Goodwill, T.J. Maxx, and a local place in Fishers called Clothes Mentor, are my go-to places to shop when I want to get a bang for my buck.
So today I’m sharing with you a few of my favorite things I snagged while out thrift shopping and how I styled them. Technically this is really two posts in one, a summer lookbook and a thrift store haul, so without further ado, let’s hop right in!
Orange Dress – $12
I 1000% get my love of comfy but cute clothes from my mom. Most summers, my mom lives in dresses like this one. It is so soft it is almost like wearing pajamas.
Not to mention it was the perfect thing to wear to Dunkin’ on National Donut Day because my style inspiration is obviously a Dunkin’ Donuts straw.
I styled this dress with my favorite brown summer sandals, my big brown bag, and of course, my favorite Dunkin’ Donuts drinks and donuts.
Comfy cotton dresses like this one are perfect for summer because 1. No pants no problem, and 2. They are a light and comfortable but stylish option to wear on the hottest summer days.
Colorful Tank – $5
This tank caught my eye because of all the bright patterns and of course, the super soft material because comfort is key.
I paired this with my favorite summer sneakers, my pink Pumas, some dark denim jean shorts, and a white bralette (for even more comfort tbh).
The purse sitting to my left you may see throughout this post is in my favorite color for summer bags and I snagged this little canteen bag from Target. Not a thrift item, but super cute and a summer must.
I wore this when I was on vacation with my family and needless to say it was the perfect comfy, casual, beach vacation top I was looking for.
Coral Top – $8
I love this top so much. It’s super fun, but comfy and is the perfect top to dress up any look.
I really like off-the-shoulder tops like this one because it’s really a simple thing that can change the whole dynamic of a look.
I paired my coral off-the-shoulder top with my favorite black high-waisted shorts, my black sandals from Target, and my go-to canteen-looking bag also from Target.
I opted for a low messy bun to keep this look pretty casual with some basic hoop earrings, but this top could easily be styled differently for any occasion.
I personally prefer any style that’s comfy but chic enough for a trip to Target because we all know I’m there just a little too often (This picture is actually taken outside Target!).
White Tank – $4
As soon as I spotted this top I was like: “Oh I definitely have to wear that to the beach!”
So here I am, wearing this super fun and flowy top on the beautiful sunny shore of Lake Michigan in St. Joe.
I can’t emphasize comfort enough. If you don’t feel good in it, it’s not worth wearing.
Comfy flouncy shirts have always been a love of mine, but I am so glad I found this one for only $4 because it was perfect to wear to the beach for a day of fun in the sun!
I paired this top with my favorite pair of sunnies, my favorite brown summer sandals (Which were, of course, traded out for flip flops at the beach), and my favorite light denim high waisted jean shorts.
Vacation T-Shirt – $4
I am a huge graphic tee person, and when I saw this one I was thinking I needed to have it, but once I saw the price tag, I just knew I had to have it.
Typically I pay up to $12 or $14 for a graphic tee and the fact that I found one this cute for only $4 actually blew my mind, but hey, that’s the beauty of thrift shopping.
I love this tee and I’m so glad I grabbed it!
I styled this top with my brown sandals, my light high-waisted denim shorts, my little brown canteen bag from Target, my favorite sunglasses on top of my head, and a delicious Handel’s ice cream cone.
Blue Romper – $14
Last but not least is this super fun blue patterned romper. My mom actually saw this on a mannequin in our favorite thrift store and said: “I think I found a good one for you!”
I feel that Olivia over at Absolutely Olivia said it best on her Instagram: “A romper is the perfect summer outfit.”
They are quick, easy, and perfect for an effortlessly fun, comfy, or sophisticated look. You can easily dress it up or dress it down like I did on this day.
I wore this romper on a trip to Starbucks with my mama so I opted for a straightened high ponytail, dainty little earrings, and these comfy white sandals I love from Target. In the photo below I added some white, round, bedazzled sunglasses that are actually from Disney World, which is why they say Minnie on the side.
I had so much fun putting together this fashion post for you, so I am looking forward to creating more! It took me such a long time to work up the confidence to take the photos for this post for you, but I am so happy with the results!
Which look was your favorite?
