I’ve been blogging for a whole year now, but this is actually the second time I have been nominated for this award. This time around I was nominated by M4gical (you can read her post here). Thank you so much for the nomination, and I humbly accept. I love this award and I feel like it is such a great way to shoutout blogs that you love.
If you are unfamiliar with this award, this is how it works. Once you are nominated, you write a post acknowledging you accept and give a shoutout to the lovely person who nominated you.
In their post, they picked five questions they wanted you to answer as part of your acceptance. You answer those questions in your post, then write five of your own questions to ask whoever you nominate, being 1-5 of your favorite blogs!
Her questions for me are:
If you had to rename your blog, what would you change it to?
I am so in love with my blog name. It sounds so cheesy and usually makes people laugh when they ask me about it, but once they understand the significance of it, they understand why I chose it. I actually wrote about it and if you’d like to know more, you can here.
If I had to rename it though, I probably would just use my name, Katie Lynn. It’s my identity, who I am, and I express what that means to me through my writing.
What made you start a blog?
I honestly can’t pinpoint exactly why I decided to start doing this. I knew I wanted to start creating content online, but I had always thought YouTube was the only way. Being camera shy made me think I’d never be able to put myself out there.
After many, many, failed attempts at talking to a camera, I just decided to give up on it for a while. Until February 2017, when I just started writing and posting things on a blog, and since then I just haven’t stopped.
If you could choose anywhere to live where would it be?
I am happy living anywhere where my family is. There are a million places I want to visit, but I really love living in Indiana because it is an amazing place for my sister. Indiana is a state I feel is often overlooked, but there is such beauty to it and so many incredible opportunities for people with special needs. Not all places have made as many milestones for the special needs community, but I know we’ll get there someday.
Down Syndrome Indiana is such a wonderful organization here. They make information accessible for new parents of children with Downs and have so many opportunities for the community to get involved in spreading love and acceptance. It all just makes my heart soar. If you’d like to see what kind of amazing work they’re doing or to learn more about Down Syndrome, you can go take a look at their website here.
What’s your favorite color and why?
I feel like my favorite color is constantly changing, but I frequently find myself choosing shades of blue. I think it’s because bright blue skies in the summer are my favorite thing. I also am very drawn to the color yellow, especially mustard yellow at the moment in the fashion sense. It’s such a fun and optimistic color.
Do you like cake and what is your favorite kind?
Um, yes! I don’t know why someone wouldn’t like cake, but maybe it’s just not their thing. Anyways, I’m a red velvet cake person and chocolate cake. It can’t be too rich of a chocolate cake though, otherwise, once it’s gone I feel like I might explode.
I loved her questions and I think I might have to steal one of them just because they are amazing.
